This morning was the team's only practice flight, and tomorrow the races begin. The morning started off with a 45 minute weather hold for wind. By the time we got out to fly the winds had started to change, and there was no left to get to the target. A two part task ended up being only one because no one made it to the second target. Inflation went really well for everyone, and everyone had safe landings. Jason, Todd, and Gary landed in a soccer field that had a locked gate. Some one finally figured out the code on the lock, so we were able to drive back there after the balloons were packed up.
Since we have such a great team, a news reporter came to the team before heading out to take off. The news reporter asked to follow for the local news story tonight. Of course he picked the best looking team out all the other pilots, so now the whole team should be on the news tonight. After the guys took off, the news reporter asked me to do an interview, also for the story. Hopefully I didn't say anything too embarrassing.
Tonight is the opening ceremony for the event, and tomorrow the race begins. Wish us luck on a great start!

Fantastic reporting, Ariel. The pictures bring the Nationals alive for us. We can sense the pilot's disappointment this morning like we were there with them. Great job!
Thanks,
